Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PDFMakerAPI (“PDFMakerAPI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit https://pdfmakerapi.com, use our PDF generation API and visual designer, or interact with our integrations (together, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account & contact details. When you request access, sign in with Google, or contact us, we collect your name, email address, and any information you choose to share (such as what you’re building).
- Document and template content. When you design a template or generate a PDF, we process the template structure, the data and variable values you supply, and any content you include. If you create a shareable document link (including via our ChatGPT integration), that document is stored so the link can be opened.
- AI prompts. When you use AI features (e.g., generating or editing a template from a description), we process the instructions and document content you submit.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and log data. IP address, browser and device type, pages or endpoints accessed, request metadata, and timestamps.
- Cookies and analytics. We use cookies and similar technologies, and a product-analytics provider, to understand usage and improve the Services. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including rendering PDFs and generating templates.
- Authenticate users and secure accounts and API access.
- Respond to requests, provide support, and send service-related communications.
- Monitor, debug, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits and our terms.
- Analyze and improve the Services, and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users.
3. AI Features and Third-Party Processing
When you use AI-powered features, the prompts and document content you submit are sent to third-party AI providers to generate the requested output. When you use our ChatGPT integration, your interactions are also subject to the policies of the AI platform you use. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the data practices of those platforms; we encourage you to review their privacy policies. Please do not submit sensitive personal information you do not want processed by these providers.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers (subprocessors) who perform services on our behalf,
under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations, including:
- Amazon Web Services — cloud hosting, database, file storage, and transactional email.
- OpenAI — AI-powered template generation and editing.
- Google — sign-in / authentication.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or PDFMakerAPI.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Account and contact information is kept while your account or relationship with us is active. Documents you choose to share are retained to keep their links working, until you delete them or they expire. PDFs generated through the render API are processed to fulfill your request and returned to you; we do not retain the generated file beyond what is necessary to deliver it. Logs are kept for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest with our cloud provider, access controls, and secret management. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@pdfmakerapi.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
- EEA/UK (GDPR). We process personal data to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Services and preventing abuse), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where required.
- California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may exercise their rights as described above without discrimination.
8. International Data Transfers
We are based in, and host the Services in, the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, with appropriate safeguards where required.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
The Services may link to third-party websites or services we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their practices.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
12. Contact Us
